Accessibility Statement

We are committed to ensuring that the SAILS tests are accessible to the widest possible audiences, including those with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities. We aspire to comply with best practices and standards as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. To accomplish this, the SAILS tests:

  • Use only HTML5 for test item encoding (i.e., no plugins are required)
  • Can be navigated sequentially and the navigation sequences affect meaning or operation
  • Employ the Accessibility for Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) suite to enhance navigation, orientation and labeling for users of screen readers and other assistive technology
  • Describe identified errors to the test-taker in text
  • Allow all text to be resized without assistive technology up to 200 percent without loss of content or functionality
  • Do not use color to convey information
  • Use sufficiently contrasting colors to satisfy screen readers
  • Make minimal use of images and provide text-alternatives (alt) for those images presented
  • Provide headers for all data cells in data tables
  • Include no time-based media (e.g., video or audio)

We continue to improve and refine the test delivery system to incorporate the latest standards and best practices for accessibility. Please contact us if you would like to view our Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT).
