Selecting the Right Test Option

 

Do you want to select the test items from our test bank that will be presented to your students? We recommend you use the Build Your Own Test. The Build Your Own Test option allows you to choose which of our 162 test items to include in your test.
Are you administering the test to students at institutions outside the United States? We recommend you use the Cohort test. The Cohort test can be administered in any country where your students can take an English-language test.
Will you have fewer than 50 students take the test? We recommend you use the Individual Scores test. The Cohort test requires a minimum of 50 students — and 200 students is recommended.
Do you need to have detailed information about your students’ skills? We recommend you use the Cohort test. The Cohort test provides detailed information for each of four ACRL Standards tested as well as for each of the eight SAILS skills sets.
Do you need a proficiency score for each student who takes the test? We recommend you use the Individual Scores test. The Individual Scores test provides a spreadsheet with information for each student including whether the student answered a question correctly and an overall proficiency score.
Do you want to be able to track an individual student’s change in information literacy over time? We recommend you use one of the Individual Scores tests.
We recommend you use the Cohort test. The Cohort test provides detailed information for each of the four ACRL Standards tested as well as for each of the eight SAILS skills sets and benchmark data you can use to compare with other institutions.
